まずは花と葉っぱを写してカットします。 サドルのパーツをなんとなく意識した形に裁断して楽しんでいます。
今回は深くカットを入れました、深くカットするなら専用のスーベルナイフが必要な感じがしました。
ここから直にデザインを決めながらカットしていきます。
埋めきれないスペースが出来て無理やり埋めています、左の真ん中と上ですね、あと全体的に寄りすぎた感じもありますね。このへんは経験を積むしかなさそうですね。
ま～ま～ですね、ちょっと窮屈な感じもするので次の課題です。
頑張って深く彫ってみました。
こんな感じになりました、なんとなくサドルを意識してやってみたので楽しかったです。

Morning! Last night I stayed up working on another carving!
First I made impressions of flowers and leaves onto the leather and carved them. I’m finally understanding the spacing of the saddle parts so I’m excited about continuing to improve. I cut these deeply…I wish I had a better swivel knife to make deep cutting easier!
Next, I decided on the design and after deciding on it, I cut it directly into the leather. I couldn’t use all of the space so in some parts I was forced to fill in some parts. I think overall it came out so-so. It’s a little too narrow so for the next practice piece, I have to be aware of that.
So far, these are my practice carvings for saddle-making. Not bad but I still have a long way to go!
