ご無沙汰してしまって申し訳なかったです。

サドルを作ってる気分を味わうために練習してました！

これはサドルのフェンダーというパーツです、左が上になりぶら下がります、右の細くなっている部分に足を乗せるアブミが付きます。

ま～よく埋まったかなと思います、思うところは色々ありますがま～これはこれでOKですね。

叩いて叩いて叩きまくったです。　　しかしこれでも左右あるフェンダーの片側です、これがもう一方分あります。
でも叩くところはまだまだありますよ～。

こんなのしょっちゅうやってたら財布などを叩くのは全く苦にならないです。

FLOWER CAME

こんにちは、１月２５日は自分の誕生日でした、沢山のメッセージを頂き本当に嬉しかったです、ありがとうございました！
２５日の朝オレゴンに住んでいる彼女から花が届きました！うれしいですね。

そして夜はバック職人のバンディさんとラーメン食べに行ってアルコールなしで色々話をしました、革についての話を出来る人がいなかったので本当に良い出会いが出来てよかったな～と思います。

Hi!  The 25th was my birthday and I was so happy to receive so many kind birthday wishes!  Thank you!
On the 25th, I got flowers from my girlfriend in Oregon!

PRACTICE CARVING

こんにちは！

昨日の夜に包丁を研ぎ直してかっこよく変身させました！

エイの革です、財布などを作った時のあまりの部分を捨てずに取ってあるので気が向くとこういう感じで使います。
とても丈夫な革なので気に入っています。
自分自身の革細工の始まりもエイ革からだったので初心にも帰れます。作業中は自分のものなのでいいかげんな作業が出来て楽しかったです。 とりあえずメインで使用するこの２本にやってみました。

それから直書きカービングの練習画像を紹介します。
今回は何年も前に参加した講習会の時の革がシワだらけで綺麗な革を自分で用意して仕立てたのでそのまま余っていた革を使ってみました。

何度か今までに挑戦した事などを踏まえて今回はやってみました。

結構上手く埋まったかなと思います、この時点で気づいたことがいくつかあるのでそれはまた次回気を付けてやろうと思います。　　紙に書くより断然早いです、しかしまだ経験値が足りないのでこのレイアウトを決めるのに時間がかかりました、スペースを見ただけである程度レイアウトが想像出来るように早くなりたいですね～。

ひたすら叩きます、ここの時間を短縮出来るようになりたいな～。

はいっ！でこうなります。最後に飾りのカットを入れて出来上がりです！

今までのなかでは一番いい出来かな、直したいところはあるけどとりあえずこれは仕上げまでやってみたいと思います。出来たらまた投稿するのでチェックしてくださいね～！

Hi!  Last night I made my knives a bit cooler by covering the handles with stingray skin.  I used the leftover skin from past wallets I’ve made. 

Stingray skin is very tough and difficult to use.  I’ve used from this piece of leather from the beginning of my leather work and I’ve used it for many random things.  For now, I put it on my two main knives.
Okay, now I’d like to show you some more of the carving practice I’ve done.  I used some leather from a seminar from few years ago that was not smooth-surfaced.  Because of the wrinkles, I never used it until now but it’s good for practicing!  I practiced the areas of carving that I’m having difficulty with when carving a design directly onto the leather (without tracing paper).

I think it’s I did a lot better but I can still see areas that I need work.  I will practice on those parts the next practice round.  I can carve very quickly but the hardest part is laying out the design.
I want to know what design to draw soon after simply seeing the space.

I’m using rawhide tools to stamp the flowers.

I stamped in the details and made the necessary finish cuts. 

I think this is the best one I’ve made so far… I want to something out of it!

JAPANESE LEATHER KNIVES

おはようございます。

弟が週末は仕事で京都に行くと言っていたのでもし時間があれば菊一文字の革包丁を買ってきて欲しいとお願いしておきました、ちょっと気になっていた包丁なのでどうかなと。

そして昨日弟から受け取った包丁は」なぜか２本、、、。３６mmと４０mm  ３６mmだけでよかったんですがどっちがいいかわからなくて２本買って来てくれました。ということで朝から刃の直しをしていました、いつも思うことですが売っている状態でもう少し形を整えた状態で売っていてほしいですね、、、、。今回の包丁は鋼が柔らかくて研ぎやすかったのでまだ楽ではありましたが二本目は気が抜けて上手く研ぐことができなかったのでまた今度直したいと思います。

指が痛くなりました、そして包丁だらけになってしまいました、もういらないな、、、、。

右から二番目が一番のお気に入りです！　一番左はクラフトを始めたときに買った包丁です。

カービングですがオーダーを貰ったもので直書きに挑戦しちゃいました。

とにかく経験値を上げていくしか近道はないようです。

Good morning. 

My younger brother told me that he was going to Kyoto for work over the weekend and I told him that if he had time, I wanted him to get for me a Kikuichimonji knife for my leatherwork.

Then yesterday he called me and said that there were two knives that were nice . . . one a 36mm and one 40mm.  I wanted just the 36mm but he didn’t know which one was better so he bought both of them instead!  So this morning I’ve just been fixing and sharpening the blades. 

The shapes of the blades of new knives always have to be reshaped to the artist’s liking; you can never just start using a knife as soon as you buy it.  Therefore, I wish that companies would start selling knives that didn’t require much work to begin with!

My fingers got sore from the sharpening AND now I have too many knives! 

The knife second from the right is my favorite.  The one on the far left is the knife I bought when I first started leatherwork. 

Until now I’ve only been practicing carving directly onto the leather but I’ve finally made a product using the method.  I have to continue practicing to perfect the method.

On a side note, I think I should surf for the first time in a while…

CUSTOM LONG WALLET

おはようございます！

昨日は寒かったですね～、朝久しぶりに海に入ろうと思ってたんですがあまりの寒さに起きれませんでした(笑)
昨日はバンドのリハでした、２月１３日に原宿のクロコダイルという場所でやります。
一時間たっぷり演奏するので時間のある方々は是非見に来てくださいね！

さ～、そんなんで昨日は仕事出来ていないのですが出来たばかりの財布の紹介です。

センザンコウという珍しい革です、この質感がよくいくつか制作したことがありますがこの仕上げをしている業者が取り扱いを終了してしまった為もうこの仕上げのものが手に入らなくなってしましました、これは密かに隠し持っていたストックだったのですが見られてしまい欲しいと言われたので泣く泣く使用する事になった最後の革です。

中はこんな感じです。

写真では斜め縫いに見えてしまいますが真っ直ぐです。

綺麗に仕上がって満足です！
大切に使っていただきたいですね、HEMISではアフターケアーもしていますので安心してお買い上げください。

こちらは自分の仕事用にエプロンを作っています、結構粉だらけになったりするのでずっと欲しかったのですがずっと買わずにきていました。どうでしょう。

革なのでなんか高級車のシートみたいです(笑)　そして少々重いかな、、、、。でもカッコイイね～！

Good morning!  Yesterday was really cold.  In the morning I wanted to surf but because it was so cold, I couldn't get out of bed, haha.

I had rehearsal with my band yesterday to prepare for our live on February 13 at Shinjuku’s Crocodile.  We’ll be performing for one hour so if you’re free, please come watch!

Although I couldn’t finish much work yesterday, I’ll introduce a wallet I recently completed.  The wallet is made from rare Manidae or Pangolin skin.  I really like the texture of the skin and so I bought it when I came across it at the leather shop.  However, because the manufacturer no longer carries this type of skin, I have kept it in my private stock for myself.  Unfortunately, I received an order for a wallet with this skin so I have to let it go.  

I’m satisfied with how the wallet came out.  I hope the customer takes good care of the wallet but please know that I do provide after care service for you to help keep your HEMIS products for a long time.

This is a picture of my work apron that’s still being made.  During work, my clothes get dirty so I’ve been wanting one for a long time.  It’s made out of leather so looks like an expensive car seat and it’s a little heavy but it’s cool, right?!  The straps have yet to be sewn on but I ‘ll be able to use it soon.

BOOKS CAME

おはようございます、日に日に寒さが増しているような気がします、、、。

さ～やっと本が届きました！サドルメイキングの本です。

この本結構高いんです、、、、。だから全て中古で買いました！

内容としてはちょっと古い作り方で今は違う工程で作ったりするので全てが使える知識になるという訳ではないようですがとにかく出来るだけ予習をして行かなければと思っているので時間を見つけて勉強しようと思います。

今日でやっとオークションが一段落するのでしっかり仕事が出来そうです。

昨日仕上げたのは結構前にカービングしたもので今とは雰囲気が結構違いますね、自分でもちょっとびっくりしました。

仕立てなければいけないものばかりでちょっと退屈ですが頑張りますね！

Good morning!  I feel it’s getting colder and colder every day…

Today the long-awaited books I ordered came in the mail! They’re saddle-making instruction books.  These books are very expensive so I bought them used online.  The contents include some older methods that are different from those used today so I can’t say I’ll use the methods given but at least I will learn what I can and find the time to study.

Today should be less busy with auction stuff so I’ll be able to do some work. 

Yesterday I finished putting together wallets that used some of my earlier carvings.  I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between those carvings and now.  I will do my best to continue to make the well-made goods!

AUCTION

こんばんは、今日はなんだかすごく寒いですね。

昨日作業場を綺麗にしたので快適に作業をしています！しかし全然仕事が進まない、、、、。

なぜなら３月末からアメリカに二ヶ月ちょっと行くのですが資金はあればあるだけいいので使っていない音楽の機材をオークションに大量に出していて梱包やら入金確認とかで時間が取られています、もう少し小分けに出せばよかったかな～。

とにかく大変だったが順調に売れていきかなりの金額になりました！　　さ～有効に使うぞ！

Hello!  Today is SO cold!

Yesterday I cleaned my workspace and it’s so much easier and more comfortable to work in.  However, I have not made much progress on my orders because I have been trying to raise money for my upcoming trip to the U.S. in March.

I’ve recently been selling a lot of my music equipment online on auction sites.  I’ve been surprised at how well my stuff has been selling (I’ve taken great care of my equipment so they’re still in good shape) but at the same time, trying to keep up with watching the auction, packing the item when won, shipping it out, getting the payment, etc. has been very time consuming!  Therefore, no pictures today.  Sorry about that.

But… in the end, I can’t complain about the money I’ve raised so far, which is higher than my expectations!

I HAD DREAM ABOUT MERI 2

画像がアップ出来るようになったので投稿したいと思います！

中のパーツを作るのは楽しくないな～。

早く片付けてしまいたいですね。

さ～、本当は昨日書きたかった事を書きます。

家でずっと飼っていたメリーという犬、英語だとメアリーです。の夢を見たんです、去年の８月に死んでしまったんですが夢でも会えたので嬉しい目覚めでした。

ハスキーとたぶん芝犬かなんかの雑種です、近所で産まれて保健所に行きそうだったところをもらってきて飼い始めました。

とにかく散歩が大好きで車も大好きでした、海に山、雪山、湖。いろんなところに一緒に行きました。

仕事をしている作業台の下で散歩の時間を待っていました。

いつも一緒にいてくれたパートナーでした！

去年８月にハワイに行く予定で航空券を買ってあったのですがもう老衰で二週間ほどゴハンも食べれない状況になっていて水は注射器で飲ませていました、驚く速さで衰えていきとうとう歩けなくなりました、でもトイレの時は教えてくれたので抱えてあげていました、そんな状況でもトイレはちゃんとしようとしていましたね。車に寝かせて海に行ってドアを開けてボーッとしたりしていました。
このままハワイに行ったらもう会えなくなると思い行くのを一週間伸ばしました。
そして呼吸が止まる瞬間まで一緒にいられました。
なんと息を引き取ったのは引き伸ばしてハワイに出発する日の朝でした。
少しでも一緒にいたかった、そんなふうにメリーは思ってたのかな、わかってたんだろうな、、。

出来ることは全てやりました、だから後悔はありません、自然の流れには逆らえないしね。１３才なら長生きだったよね、あと二年くらいはいけると思ってたのにな。
メリーはすごく幸せだったと思う、本当にそう思ってくれてたらいいな。

あ～、会いたいな～。

Good morning, I was able to upload my pictures!  Making the inner parts of wallets is not fun and I wish I could just start putting the wallets together.

Okay, I wanted to talk about my dream the other night!  My family had a dog name Meri, which is “Mary” in English.  She was in my dream last night; Meri passed away in August of last year.  I was happy to have seen her in my dream.  She was part Husky and Shiba and she was born at my neighbor’s house.  She was a puppy that, if no one took her, she’d be put to sleep.

She loved taking walks, riding cars, going to the beach, loved the snow, loved lakes… we were able to go many places together.  She also used to sit with me while I worked.
 We were always together!

Last August, I had plans to go to Hawai’i but two weeks before I was supposed to leave, she took a turn for the worse.  She wasn’t eating and drinking anything and could hardly walk but still was able to make an effort to go to the bathroom.  We taught her how and where to use the bathroom and until the end, she tried to do what she was taught.  What a great dog.  When we took her to the beach, she laid in the car and when we opened the door, she just looked at the ocean.  If I went to Hawai’i I knew that I wouldn’t have been able to say goodbye.

Therefore, I extended my departure one week so I could stay with her.  I think she knew I was supposed to leave but decided to stay but that I’d leave soon. 

She eventually passed on the morning the day I was going to leave.
We did everything we could for her so I have no regrets.  She lived a good, long 13 years, even though I thought she’d live another 2 years. 

I think she was happy and I really hope she was.

I wish I could see her again . . .

I HAD DREAM ABOUT MERI

こんにちは、今日も暖かく天気もいいです、こんな日は散歩したら気持ちいいんだよね。

昨日から長財布三つと二つ折り財布一つの中パーツを作っています、はっきり言ってつまらない、、、、。
この作業は嫌いです、、、、。

僕は毎晩夢を見るんですが昨日は去年の八月に死んでしまった犬、メリーの夢をみました。元気だったな～。

今日はなぜか画像がアップ出来ないのでまた明日トライしてみますね！

It’s warm and nice again today; it’s the type of weather that it feels good to take a walk in.

Since yesterday I’ve been making the inner parts for three long wallets and two half wallets.  To be honest, it’s my least favorite thing make!

I always dream at night but last night, I dreamed of my dog who died last August, Meri.  She was fine and healthy in my dream!

For some reason I can’t upload pictures onto my blog today so I will try again tomorrow.

THIS IS AN OLD WALLET I MADE A LONG TIME AGO

こんにちは、今日は暖かくて最高だな～！

今、資金集めの為にオークションに沢山出品しているので売れるといいな～。

さ～、昨日来た友達の財布がとても懐かしかったので写真を撮っておきました！

東京に住んでいる頃やっていたバンドがありました、まだ２０代の前半の頃です、そのバンドと個人的な事を書いていたホームページがありました。　　そこの４０００アクセスをゲットした人に何かプレゼントをしようという企画をやったことがあります、正直不安でした、知らない人だったらどうしようとか、名乗り出てくれなかったらどうしようとか、、、、。
しかしそれをゲットしたのは昨日来た友達でした(笑)

それでその時に作ったのがこの財布です、もう７～８年は前のものだと思います、こんないい加減な仕立てなのに壊れないんですね、、、、。びっくりしました。　　これからはすぐに壊れる財布を作って沢山売ろうかな～(笑)

なにもわからないくせによく作ったと思います、もちろんこの頃は完全に趣味でしたのでこれで上等でした。
そういえばもう一人僕の本当に初期の作品を持っている方がいます、あれは自分にとっては買い戻したいくらいのお宝です。

ま～よくやってたなと褒めてあげたいな。

粗探しはしないでください(笑)

さ～、中です。一番のポイントは財布の縦が短くてお札がどうしても見えちゃうところ(笑)

うん、この財布に再会できて本当に良かった！

売るとなるといろいろ厳しく考えないといけなくなりますが趣味でやるのであれば技術があろうがなかろうが作り手の気持ちがこもっていればどんな作品も比べられないほど素晴らしいと思っています。
実際にこの財布を今作ろうと思えば簡単に出来ますが、あの頃の自分にとってはこれが大作でした。
偉そうなこと書いてますが僕はなんでも出来る職人でも一流の職人でもありません、でも一生懸命に物を作る人の心は理解しているつもりです。

なんだか昨日は懐かしい気持ちになった日でした。

Hello, it’s nice and warm today!

Yesterday I mentioned that my good friend came to my house and I took pictures of his wallet.  When I lived in Tokyo, my band and I held a contest via our band’s homepage.  The 4000th person to access our page would win a wallet that I made.  I was worried that the person wouldn’t leave his/her name but by pure luck, my good friend was the winner!  I promise it wasn’t rigged!

This is the wallet I made for him, he’s used it for at least 7-8 years!  I was surprised that even though the wallet wasn’t made very well, it’s still in tact.  In that case, I should make wallets that fall apart easily and sell many of them!  Jk

Even though I didn’t know anything about leatherwork and made this as a hobby, I think I did a pretty good job.  There’s one other person who has a wallet I made around this time.  These wallets from back then are important to me as they carry a lot of memories.  I’m even willing to pay for the wallet because of how much it means to me.

Please don’t look for all of my mistakes in the pictures!  haha

This is the inside of the wallet.  One main point is that I cut the leather too short; instead of hiding the bills, you can easily see the cash!

It’s great to see this wallet again. 

If products are made for business, I believe that the product should be inspected thoroughly to uphold the quality standards of the business.  However, if products, like my friend’s wallet, are made as a hobby, as long as there is feeling and effort put into the product, I think it’s okay.

I could make this wallet today very easily but I remember how hard it was for me back then.  I understand what it feels like to put a lot of effort into a product and it come out not top quality.  The important things are that you love what you do and the amount of effort you put into it.

MINI KANNA

こんにちは、今日は高校からの友達が突然遊びにきてオーダーを入れてすぐ去っていきました(笑)

彼とは頻繁には会えないのですが大切な友達一人です、友達も一緒に来ていたので高校の時の話などを少ししてました。　それと今日は別のオーダーの分のデッサンも書かないといけないな～、まだ一度しかお会いした事がないのですが日本の楽器業界のボスの方だそうです。
今日は一日中話をしっぱなしでちょっと喉が痛いな、、、。

さ～FACEBOOKで豆カンナについて質問が来たので豆カンナを紹介してみようと思います。

刃をこの木の入れ物にはめ込んで刃の出具合を調整します。

このように下側は湾曲していて当て具合を調整して使います。

このように革の角を落とします、いつもこれを使う訳ではありませんが切れ味は最高ですし薄い革でも使えるのでいいですよ。

Hello!  Today my friend came to my house and ordered a wallet.  After ordering he had to leave but it was good to see him.  He’s a good friend from high school and every year we only get to meet a couple of times but I truly value his friendship.

Today I talked all day long with people so my throat is a little sore, haha.

Anyway, I got a question via Facebook about my “Mame kanna,” which the person called a “skiving chisel.”  I use the tool a lot because it can cut the edges of both a little or a lot of leather.

WALLET AND KNIVES

こんにちは！今日は昨日のお財布とナイフの紹介をしようと思います。

まずは昨日の財布です、カービングがないのでフォルムがもろに出ますね。漉きの入れ方やボンドの塗り方や張り方で見え方も変わりごまかしが効かないので気を遣いながらの作業でした。
はじめての色使いですが個人的には気に入っています。

表は柔らかに膨らみのある女性の感じにしてみました。

糸の色を悩みましたが表に合わせて黒にして中の薄紫にアクセントになるようにしました、しかしこの色使いは縫い目がモロに見えてくるので縫い目が乱れないようにかなり気を使って縫っていきました。これはつかれたな～、、、、。

今日発送します、オーナーさんが気に入ってくれるといいな～。

さ～、今日はいつも使う刃物を研ぎ直したので紹介しようと思います。

まず上にあるのはラウンドナイフというものです、これは厚い革の直線を切る時に使うのですが正直今は使っていません、使ってみたくて何年も前に買ったのですが今の自分の仕事には必要ないです。しかしこれからサドルを作るときには活躍してもらいます！

下段の左から日本の革包丁です、これは神戸に行ったときに買いました、歴史のある料理包丁を作っているところの物です。でも安物です(笑)　でもカッコイイ！　ちゃんと研げれば問題なしです。

次は豆カンナの刃です、革の角を落とす面取りに使います。

次が菱キリです、手縫いの際にこれで穴を貫通させながら縫い進めていきます、用途に合わせて刃先は２種類用意しています。

最後にスーベルナイフです、これでデザインをカットしていきます、このカットでカービングの出来の９０％は決まってしまうと思っていますので大切な道具です。このナイフも用途に合わせて今のところ２種類用意しています。

Hello, I’m going to talk about the wallet and knife I wrote about yesterday.

Because the wallet does not have any carving, the focus of the wallet is its shape and form.  I had to be extremely careful in how I shaped the wallet.  I wanted it to be feminine yet cool at the same time.  I think it came out well.

I was debating which color string to use for the wallet.  I decided to use black because I wanted it to accent the leather.  However, on the inside part if I used black string, it would stand out on the purple leather; therefore, I had to be extra careful when sewing so that there were no mistakes.

I hope the owner of this wallet likes it!

I sharpened my knives.  The knife at the top is a Round Knife and is used for cutting thick leather in straight lines.  I don’t use this knife now because I don’t need it for my current work.   I plan on using it when I make a saddle. 

The bottom left knife is a Japanese leather knife.  I bought it when I went to Kobe.  The maker of the knife is old and well-known for making cooking knives.  I thought it was interesting so I bought it.  It was cheap and cool. 

Below is the mini-skiving knife called “Mame Kanna” in Japanese and it is used as an edger.

Next is a stitching awl.  I have two types of needles for it.

Last is the swivel knife.  It is a very important tool used for carving.

CUSTOM LONG WALLET

実際にスケートパークが出来れば鴨川に活気が出てくると思うので時間はかかりそうですがぜひ実現できるといいなと思います。　　実際に今行っているスケートパークは車で一時間以上かかるのですが市外、県外から来ている方々も多いのでそこを参考に鴨川市にもがんばって欲しいですね。

さて今日はカービングなしの長財布です、ミッツマングローブのようなオカマの方が使うとのオーダーだったのでこんな感じの色使いにしてみました。
もう少しで完成です！趣味の悪い感じにしてと言われましたがこれはこれで結構かっこいいですね。

さ～もう一息なので頑張ります。

Hello, it’s cold again today!

My friend and other people are trying to have a skate park built in Kamogawa and wrote to the mayor in hopes of getting his approval.  Check out the link: http://beniveni.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post.html　
As of right now, the nearest skate park is one hour away.  The skate park was built for the community and I hope Kamogawa can follow that city’s example.

Today I made a long wallet without any carving.  The order was for a guy who wanted something a little more feminine and this is how it came out.  I wasn’t sure about the colors he chose but it came out well! 

I’m doing the best I can with my work and will continue to do so for you.

HEAD KNIFE

こんばんは、年末からずっとヘッドナイフというものを探していましてやっとカリフォルニアで見つけて昨日手元に届きました！
１８００年代のアンティークです、日本で新品を買うより安いし昔の鉄の切れ味は評判が良いので決めました。

雰囲気最高です！

さ～、早速研いで使ってみました！　あれっ？なんかおかしい、、、、。


まだ慣れてないのかな？と思いスクラップを何度もカットしてみる、、、。

？？なんか気持ち悪い、刃先を変えて再度カット、う～ん気持ち悪い。

目の前にナイフをかざして良く見てチェック、、、、。

柄の根元から刃物が曲がって出てるじゃん(笑)

さすがに焦りましたよ、せっかく買ったのに、しかも海外からだし。

直そうと思ったがちょっと怖い、、、。

返品できるか問い合わせをしたらものすごく良い対応で返送の送料まで返してくれるそうです、アメリカのこのへんのサービスには本当に毎回感心します。
なので次のナイフも同じショップで購入予定です。この感じは見習わないとな。

人間の手っていうのはすごいんですよね、ギターでも目ではわからない違いを手では感じれるからね。
ま～とにかく６ミリ位の厚さの革を切るのにいくらアンティークで価値のあるナイフでも根元から曲がった刃物じゃ怖いので返品です。
血だらけにはなりたくないので。

それと引き続き練習の画像です、深くカットしようとしてたらミスカットが多すぎて叩くのはやめましたがデザイン自体は前よりもうねりがあり良いかなと思います。

明日からは通常通り仕事を始めます！

Hello!  For the past month or so, I’ve been searching for a head knife.  I finally found one in California and it arrived yesterday!  It’s an antique from the 1800’s, it was cheaper than buying a new head knife in Japan, and I heard that the iron from the old days is excellent so I decided to buy it.

I quickly sharpened it and tried it but wait, something was strange about it.  I thought it wasn’t sharp enough as I was cutting scrap pieces of leather over and over again.  It was weird and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t cutting right.  I carefully checked it and realized that the blade was bent!!!  Naturally I was irritated because I finally found one and it was from abroad.

I was scared about fixing it on my own and decided that I should ask if I could return the knife since I couldn’t use it.  I was surprised about how good the customer service in America as the seller kindly said I could return the knife and get a full refund.  He is so nice that I certainly want to buy a knife from him in the future.

Our hands are pretty amazing, aren’t they?  My hands were able to feel the difference in the blade where my eyes couldn’t tell, the same with being able to use my hands to tell the difference between guitars.  Even though I could cut a 6mm thick piece of leather with the tool, I don’t want to chance trying to use the tool and end up bleeding all over the place!

So I went back to practicing carving.  When I focus on cutting deeply I make miss cuts so I stopped thinking too much and the design came out pretty good when I looked at it from the front.

I’m going to get back to regular work tomorrow!  Like last year, I hope to receive a lot of orders. I promise to work hard in providing the best products for my customers.
